On January 21st, a delegation from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), led by Associate Vice President DONG Cheng, visited SDUT for discussions on strategic cooperation. YU Hongbo, Secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT, met with the guests in the 8th floor reception room. The attendees include CHEN Jing, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of SDUT; WANG Liqiu, Dean of Zibo Technology Innovation Research Institute of HKPU; and XIONG Xin, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of Zibo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau.

YU Hongbo extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by DONG Cheng. He stated that SDUT would, taking the settlement of the Zibo Technology Innovation Research Institute of HKPU in Qichuang Building as a link, actively advance comprehensive strategic cooperation with HKPU and spare no effort to provide support for the institute’s development in such areas as laboratory resources sharing, so as to facilitate the institute’s high-quality and rapid development.

At the meeting, CHEN Jing gave a brief introduction to SDUT. He hoped that both SDUT and HKPU would adhere to the needs of regional economic and social development, and could carry out in-depth cooperation in co-building high-level scientific and technological innovation platforms, strengthening faculty development, and cultivating talent, and jointly creating a model for collaborative innovation and integrated development in higher education between Hong Kong and the mainland.
DONG Cheng briefly introduced HKPU. He stated that SDUT and HKPU had a solid foundation for in-depth collaboration in multiple disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, biomedical sciences, materials science, and cultural tourism. He expressed his hope that both sides would further gather outstanding talents and establish closer cooperative ties in talent cultivation, discipline development, scientific research, as well as the transfer and commercialization of research achievements.
XIONG Xin briefly introduced the overall profile of Zibo Technology Innovation Research Institute of HKPU. He stated that Zibo Municipal Science and Technology Bureau would provide comprehensive support for the institute’s development and continuously advance the implementation of its various projects.
Heads from relevant departments and schools attended the meeting, including Office of Talent Affairs, Office of Science and Technology, Office of Cooperation and Development, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Life Sciences and Medicine, and School of Literature and Journalism.
