Forging ahead for seventy years to embark on a new journey; striving for excellence through innovation. On the morning of April 17th, SDUT held the opening ceremony of the 13th Science and Technology Culture Art Festival and the launching ceremony of “Reading in the New Era, A Bookish SDUT” Campus Reading Festival in the Lecture Hall of No. 3 Teaching Building.

ZHANG Shouheng, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of SDUT; MIAO Hongpeng, Party Secretary and General Manager of China Unicom Zibo Branch; FENG Yiyu, Vice President for Academic Affairs of SDUT; LIU Xingqing, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of SDUT; QI Shenghui, a 1982 alumnus of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Director of the Expert Committee of the Clean Heating Industry Committee; and LI Fusheng, Regional Manager of Beijing RENTIAN Bookstore Group Co., Ltd., attended the ceremony, together with heads of relevant functional departments and colleges, as well as faculty and student representatives of SDUT.
ZHANG Shouheng delivered the opening address. He pointed out that the Science and Technology Culture Art Festival serves as an important carrier for campus cultural development and a vivid practice of implementing the policy of “five-pronged education” and deepening quality-oriented education. He emphasized that the festival plays a significant role in fostering students’ innovative awareness and enhancing their cultural attainment. He expressed his hope that faculty and students would take the festival as a platform to strengthen their skills through competition, enrich their minds through culture, and showcase their talents through action. He further urged them to cultivate scientific spirit, strengthen cultural confidence, and nurture artistic sensibilities, thereby contributing their wisdom and strength to the building of a modern high-level application-oriented research university with distinctive industry features.
MIAO Hongpeng delivered a speech on behalf of the supporting organization. He expressed his hope that both sides would continue to leverage their respective strengths in technology, talent and resources to contribute further to the development of the university’s smart campus. He also encouraged students to take an active part in social practice during their campus life and improve their communication skills through learning and experience.Furthermore, he advised students to pay more attention to technological changes, get well prepared for technological innovation, and continuously enhance their comprehensive capabilities.

At the opening ceremony, heads of relevant functional departments and colleges presented awards to 2025 “Jixia Reading Stars”. The director of the university library accepted donated books from alumni and cooperative enterprises. ZHANG Shouheng, MIAO Hongpeng, FENG yiyu, and LIU Xingqing jointly launched the 13th Science and Technology Culture Art Festival and Campus Reading Festival.
After the opening ceremony, LIU Yudong, Vice Chairman of the Shandong Writers Association, Editor-in-Chief of Shandong Literature, and writer-in-residence of SDUT, delivered a lecture at the Jixia Lecture Hall. Under the title “The Reading of Novels”, LIU cited representative classic short stories by renowned domestic and international authors such as LU Xun, MO Yan, and Gabriel García Márquez.Drawing on his own creative experience, he offered an accessible yet profound explanation of why we read novels, how we read novels, and what novels we should read, enabling the audience to gain deeper insight and understanding of fiction reading.
Under the theme of “Forging ahead for Seventy Years to Embark on a New Journey; Striving for Excellence through Innovation”, this festival centers on scientific innovation, cultural inheritance, and artistic performance, featuring 18 high-quality campus cultural activities.It gives full play to the educational function of campus culture, builds a comprehensive campus cultural brand, and injects youthful vitality into SDUT’s high-quality development.
