On January 19th, 2026, the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China released the Proposed List of National Planned Textbooks for Undergraduate of Higher Education in the 14th Five-Year Plan Period. Four textbooks of SDUT are in the list, namely, Measurement Technology in Mechanical Engineering (3rd Edition), Mechanical Drawing (3rd Edition), Electronic Devices and Circuit Theory Eleventh Edition, and C Programming: A New Perspective (2nd Edition). In the number of textbooks entered into the list, SDUT ranks the 3rd among provincial universities with doctoral programs in Shandong Province. This means another important breakthrough in SDUT textbook development and has further perfected the high-level textbook development system.
Over the years, SDUT has steadily improved the three-level (national, provincial and university) textbook development system, which encouraged the faculty to integrate teaching and research with educational practice and disciplinary frontiers, promote education digitalization and the construction of digital textbooks, and endeavor to develop high-quality textbooks featuring distinctive characteristics and keeping abreast of the times. To date, a total of 37 undergraduate textbooks of SDUT have been ranked the national planning textbooks, and the total number of high-level undergraduate textbooks at or above the provincial level has reached 78. SDUT had yielded fruitful achievements in textbook construction, which fully reflected the sound teaching and research capacity of our faculty and the remarkable progress it had made in textbook development.
In the future, SDUT will further strengthen the support, guidance and standardized management, thus to advance the compilation of more high-quality textbooks that highlight disciplinary features and integrate teaching innovation, and provide more solid support for high-quality talent cultivation.
